ParenteBeard Appoints New Leader for Philadelphia Region
ParenteBeard announced the appointment of Partner Julius Green, CPA to tax practice leader in the firm’s Philadelphia region. In his new role, Green will oversee tax quality control, as well as build service teams with the audit practice to enhance client service. Green’s 20 years of experience includes tax compliance and consulting for nonprofit, healthcare, senior living services, higher education and membership organization clients. In addition, he also leads the firm’s exempt organization tax practice and is vice president of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs, where he also served as first chair of the diversity committee. Green’s other accomplishments includes leading the PICPA’s efforts to create professional and workshop forums and a nationally regarded diversity whitepaper and toolkit for accounting firms. He received his bachelor’s degree and master of business administration from the University of Baltimore and a juris doctorate from the George Washington University National Law Center.
Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP Names New Director
Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP recently selected Tripp Bacon to join its Risk Advisory Services practice as a director in the firm’s Atlanta office. Bacon has more than 14 years of audit and advisory experience, including in internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley, third-party and supplier reviews and process improvement matters. He has also created and managed internal audit, SOX, consulting and contract teams for Fortune 500 companies, private companies and state government agencies. Bacon is a Certified Fraud Examiner and holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance. He graduated from Indiana University at Bloomington with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.
TIAG Appoints New Members to Advisory Board
The International Accounting Group, recently appointed new Advisory Board members, including Ronald Storch, Partner in Charge of Operations at Berdon LLP. The other Advisory Board members include: Kurt Baker, Einfeld Symonds Vince (Sydney, Australia); Dr. Kay Jess, GGV Grützmacher / Gravert / Viegener (Hamburg, Germany); Barry Nijkamp, Van Elderen Accountants (The Netherlands); Felipe Pestana, Grupo Planus (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil); Norman P. Posner, Samet & Company (Massachusetts, USA); Dan Ray, Hemming Morse LLP (San Francisco, California, USA); and Howard Wilkinson, retired Managing Partner of Mercer & Hole (London, England).
The Advisory Board will assist TIAG’s management in reviewing prospective new members, offer feedback for the planning of international conferences and provide valuable guidance on future plans and initiatives. The Advisory Board holds board meetings at TIAG’s semi-annual international conferences in addition to regular teleconferences.
Barnes Dennig Adds Several New Staff Members
Barnes Dennig, the fifth largest accounting firm in Cincinnati, recently announced the hiring of Katie Dempsey as Tax Senior Accountant; Emilie Geiler as Staff Accountant; Karen Algie, CPA as Tax Manager; Daniel Damonte as Staff Accountant; Alex Curran as Staff Accountant; Courtnee Greshner as Staff Accountant; and Alexis Toon as Staff Accountant.
Dempsey was previously a Tax Senior Consultant for Deloitte Tax LLP and received her bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Finance and MBA with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Dayton.
Geiler decided to pursue accounting after she discovered she enjoyed the accounting classes required to obtain her minor in Business. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati, as well as her Masters of Accounting degree.
Algie has previously served as an accounting and tax consultant and tax manager, where she assisted a variety of clients with their accounting and tax needs. Algie graduated from Birmingham Souther College with her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She completed her CPA exam requirements with additional coursework at the University of Cincinnati.
Damonte's experience includes audits, reviews and compilations. He graduated with his Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy from Northern Kentucky University and minored in Business Administration and Spanish.
Curran previously served as an Internal Auditor for CorrectCare—Integrated Health, Inc., where he was responsible for reviewing large vendor accounts. Curran received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Greshner previously served as a Staff Accountant at REA & Associates, Inc., where she gained experience with tax returns and client relationship building.
Toon previously worked as a tax intern for Joseph Decosimo and Company, LLC. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Kentucky University.
